Community Advancing Public Safety (CAPS) Volunteer & Intern Program

Our Vision:
To transform the delivery of public safety services through volunteerism.

Our Purpose:
To enhance quality of life through volunteer public safety services to our community

The CAPS program is an exciting community-wide effort that engages volunteers in a public safety partnership with the City’s police and fire departments and the Office of Emergency Management.

Established in 2011, the CAPS Program was developed in response to a need for greater community involvement in the midst of an economic downturn and a workforce reduction. As a result, this award-winning program now offers unique and interesting opportunities supporting our public safety departments.

Each year, the Colorado Springs community hosts a premiere appreciation event to honor CAPS volunteers. Business and citizen attendees come together to recognize the individual and collective contributions of this amazing group of CAPS volunteers. The commitment to this event is unwavering, so much so that 100 percent of event expenses are underwritten by the community allowing volunteers and family to attend as our guests.
